Given the ever increasing charges of electric and water, we are considering doing our last remaining old house up completely off the grid. In fact as the electric company kept insisting on charging us for use of electric even though nothing on, we have had the electric disconnected. We would also like to reduce the bills at our main home and our rental properties.
So I will be looking at various options for solar and wind energy - obviously solar water heating is the norm in Bulgaria but I will be looking at using solar for general electric as well.
Be good to get a decent discussion going about this from others interested in a similar thing.

yes, I'd given it some thought too...solar panels can be pricey, well they are in the UK at least, although I managed to get mine free due to a Government scheme....would have been thousands otherwise...I don't know the price for them there. Thought about wind power too....might have that anyway, won't produce much electric...but would charge a battery that could power something else low wattage.
