Many people move to different Countries for varied reasons, price of property, lifestyle, weather, all sorts of things and reasons. My choice to move to BG was many of those issues...political as well. It helps if somehow you can affiliate with people that are already there, you know, like minded and such. heading for intense Brit communities might be it for all the above reasons, maybe not. I have made contacts there myself, via facebook and fora, but have spent many hours online researching !
Perhaps I have a small advantage in that I'm a Biker, and those communities tend to stick together, so I already feel I have friends there. mostly bi-lingual to help me out.
But what if you go out there alone, with nobody except your partner or just by yourself ? To be honest, I think you'll struggle, stranger in a strange land.....to anyone like that, Id suggest going for a holiday first, get the feel of the place, then decide if that's what you really want from/for your life.

I went there on my own. Was never the plan and certainly wasn't easy. I moved for change of lifestyle mainly. I knew no-one before I went except one friend in Sofia and the agent I bought through and my lawyer. It was certainly not easy to meet people and most of the people I know in the area are people I helped buy houses there and relocate and then friends of theirs.
Facebook is a great way to meet others out there but wasn't really around when I moved over.
