SOFIA ECHO: Tue, Oct 19 2010 16:14 CET
The modernisation and expansion project of Bourgas airport began on October 19 2010, Bulgarian media reported.
The project is estimated to cost 20 million leva. After the summer tourist season came to a close, Fraport twin star airport management launched the construction of a new administrative building, a new cargo storage facility and a new building designed to accommodate the fire fighting units at the airport, the report said.
Additionally, in 2011, a new passenger terminal is to be constructed that will be able to process up to three million passengers annually.
German operator Fraport AG, which holds the concession for the airport, also operates the airport in Varna.
