I came to BG May 08 & was interested in buying a house. So B4 leaving made a solicitor POA etc so Co was set up. 5,000 levs deposited etc. The deal fell through due to Credit Crunch & then I became very ill. My solicitor (when I pulled out of the house) sent me an email saying he would terminate the Co & withdrew all my money!! I was not happy with this because my dream of owning a property in BG was not over, so I told him to put it back (the money) & keep the Co. Then my mother was diagnosed with Cancer, so my dream was ended. This is where the problems start. I cannot access my money. Solicitor was going to open internet banking for me. 1st he needed photo copy of my passport etc. Basically he has stalled for 4-5months with different excuses. Busy-wedding-honeymoon, now its because the cashier doesn't work ther anymore? ??I am seriously concerned over my money- I have no idea whether its still there or how to get it out. Does anyone have any ideas-do I have to have internet banking? If I have been done, then I want to scandalise this man, start legal proceedings. if not I want my money

First when you set up a company to buy a house it is normal to deposit 5000 levs. Once the company is set up and registered this initial deposit account must be closed down and a new account opened (if required) to put the 5000 levs in. Unless you specifically gave your lawyer authority in your power of attorney to access your account and withdraw your money then he/she should not be able to touch it. As it is a company account, you will personally need to come to Bulgaria to sign documentation to withdraw the 5000 levs. The easiest and quickest option is to jump on a plane and come over.

I have come to the conclusion that I will need to Jump a plane but I suffer with ME, so the mere jumping on a plane and doing this, will cause severe suffering for months after but I really have no other choice. So anyone reading this, make sure you set up internet banking.

It is not always possible to have internet banking, depends on what bank your account was opened with. I have no internet banking for my company account, only my personal account as this had to be set up separately. You more need to be careful who you give POA to for your bank accounts.
